Membership Email

From the Board of Directors-March 14, 2020:

Hello Everyone:

Due to the Coronavirus increasing to a Pandemic level, a majority of the WVARC board members decided yesterday that for the health and welfare concern of our membership, to cancel the April 6th general meeting and all meetings and club activities until further notice.

We will try to keep you posted through our website and email, as to when we can resume activities.

Thank you, God Bless and Take Care.

If you would like more information on the Coronavirus, that you may not find on the TV news right away, keep reading:

News sources have stated that this COVID-19 (Coronavirus) can increase "exponentially".  Which means that it starts out with just a few cases here and there, then there are clusters of cases and a few weeks later there are hundreds, then thousands.

This is a "Novel" virus, which means it has not been seen before and that our immune systems are unfamiliar with it.

There are only 3 ways to stop the spread:

1) Antivirals

2) Extreme social isolation

3) Let the virus move through the entire population, and the survivors are then immune.

Authorities have chosen to begin shutting down meeting and gathering places (all facilities in Sun City West for 2 weeks or longer and all facilities in Sun City Grand until May 1st), in hopes that people will self-isolate until the virus burns itself out.  Unless public events and travel are shut down for a period of time, many, many more will get this and suffer.

Although young and healthy people have had issues, this virus is much harder on persons over 60 years old and babies whose immune system is not strong.  Fever and flu-like respiratory symptoms will be worse for persons with asthma, COPD and emphysema.  Other countries taking these "social isolation" steps have seen a slowdown in the number of new cases.  Information about this virus continues to evolve, so you may hear conflicting reports.

There will most-likely be a huge jump in the number who test positive, because a lot more people are now able to be tested.  They have even come up with a drive through, nasal-swab test in both New York and Seattle.

A recent article by stated:

"Leading U.S. retailers will work with the government to assist with drive-through coronavirus testing, the Retail Industry Leaders Association said. Senior leaders of Walmart Inc, Target Corp, Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc and CVS Health Corp stood with President Donald Trump at a White House announcement and news conference on Friday. The tests will be conducted in retail store parking lots. People will be able to drive up and get swabbed by state health workers or members of the U.S. Public Health Service, then have the samples sent to diagnostic labs, which can report back results in 24 hours."

For those who like medical-technical videos, there are videos by "MedCram-Medical Lectures explained CLEARLY".

This "Flatten the Curve" video was created AFTER this virus was declared a Pandemic, and explains why "social distancing" is important to "flatten the curve" of this pandemic so that hospital personnel are not so overwhelmed with so many patients at one time.  The curve was not flattened in both China and Italy, so lots of cases spiked at one time:

Hand-washing has become VERY important, especially after touching doorknobs, handrails and light switches etc. in public places.  Most masks that people wear are to keep you from touching your face with your unclean hand.  They do not keep the virus out unless they are a special kind.  If you are sick, you should wear a mask to avoid spreading your germs to others and onto surfaces.  Stay away from others who are sneezing or coughing.  Sneeze or cough into a tissue, your shirt or elbow and not into your bare hand.  Do what you can to help yourself and your family members stay safe.

If you like to watch YouTube videos, Dr. John Campbell is a British doctor who teaches nurses.  He has some very good videos on this subject, from a global perspective.

You have probably also seen Dr. Anthony Fauci on the news, speaking on the Coronavirus, who claims that it will get worse before it gets better.

Stay safe and healthy everyone.
