GOTA – Guns on the Air

Join WVARC for Guns on the Air (GOTA), a weekend of amateur radio, camping, fellowship, and optional shooting activities at Ben Avery Shooting Facility.

Weekend schedule:
• Friday, November 13: Campers may begin setting up at 3:00 PM.
• Saturday, November 14: Main club activity day. Visitors are encouraged to come out even if they are not camping. WVARC will provide food for the day.
• Sunday, November 15: Morning visits are welcome; campers must be checked out by 1:00 PM.

Camping:
WVARC has reserved a limited group of camping spaces and is coordinating campers so members can stay near one another. Dry camping, utility camping, RVs, vans, and tent camping are options. Generators are allowed. No wood fires are planned; gas grills/fire pits may be used subject to facility rules. Members who want a camping space should contact Josh as soon as possible because spaces are limited. The club is covering the coordinated camping spaces.

On the air:
A WVARC special event station is planned, with John AA1SQ heading up the station and QSL cards. Multiple radio operating positions are planned with separation between stations to help reduce interference. Listen for NY7S calling CQ during the event.

Shooting:
Shooting is optional and is not paid for by the club. Participants who want range time are responsible for making their own reservations with Ben Avery and paying applicable range fees. Weekend range availability and fees should be confirmed directly with the facility before attending.

Visitors do not need to camp to participate in the club gathering.
