How Receivers Work

WVHS Scheduled

About This Event

Learn how radio receivers work in this introductory West Valley Ham Shack class. The focus is on what happens inside a receiver in general, rather than detailed analysis of individual components.

Monday, November 9, 2026, starting at noon (Arizona time).

Tuned Radio Frequency (TRF) receivers: RF amplifier and LC tuning, diode detector, audio amplifier, and speaker.

Superheterodyne receivers: the additional stages, including the local oscillator (LO), mixer (heterodyne stage), IF filter and amplifier, and demodulator.

Organized by West Valley Ham Shack (WVHS). Register by emailing wv7hs-class@outlook.com. Classes are free and open to the public, typically limited to ten students; a waiting list may be available.

Starts at noon Arizona time. The latest organizer schedule does not specify an end time; the existing calendar end time is retained. See the WVHS calendar for current updates.
