About Us

A Little History

In September of 1987, 100 hams got together and formed what is currently the West Valley Amateur Radio Club, but if you go clear back to the beginning in 1961, there were 7 hams from the Youngtown and Sun City areas getting together on each other's patios.

We just celebrated 61 years of membership!  To read about our history that Jim, N7YTI, has researched, click HERE.

We Have Grown!

We now have over 350 club members from as far away as Yuma, Casa Grande and New River.  Also snowbirds who live in Oregon!   One of our members lives in Florida and another in Texas!

Much of our history is contained in our ShortSkip Newsletter.  I will be posting as many as I can, given the amount of space on this website.  This is a work in progress.  The oldest issues can be found HERE.
