It shall be our mission of West Valley Amateur Radio Club to promote emergency and public service communication, radio knowledge, and promote Amateur Radio by public service, engaging events that promote amateur radio to the general public, to advance the general interest and welfare of Amateur Radio in the community, support citizens of our community in times of need and disaster.
In September of 1987, 100 hams got together and formed what is currently the West Valley Amateur Radio Club, but if you go clear back to the beginning in 1961, there were 7 hams from the Youngtown and Sun City areas getting together on each other's patios.
The caption of the photo to the right reads:
"The 1962 demo display of the Sun City Amateur Radio Club at a local shopping center.
Pictured are George Mezey, K7NIY, and his XYL Georgie, K7NOA. Both are sadly now Silent Keys". Thanks to Curt Faulk, N6ATC for providing this photo.
